This Term's School Values

Here are some snippets from how Te Maunga view excelling through faith and mercy
Mercy is forgiving someone and giving them a second chance. People can take that second chance and become a better person or not listen at all. God gives us a lot of second chances. When I do something at home that annoys someone, I should think about what I am doing before I do it, because God also gives us justice and mercy. So, a second chance for my sins. Jesus died for our sins, and we have to respect that and follow in his steps.
~ Charlie
Faith is believing in something or someone. When a person says “I have faith in you”, it means that they believe in you. Mercy is forgiving someone/thing, and giving them a second chance. I can show more faith and mercy by believing in other people by encouraging, forgiving, and giving second chances.
~Viraneath

"...mercy is giving people second chances no matter how much hatred you have for their actions..."
~McKenzy

To excel means to do your absolute best no matter what the cost (just like God). What is Faith, and what is Mercy? Well, faith is believing in something without a doubt, and Mercy is letting somebody else have a second chance even if they have done wrong.
~Rebecca

This week we have been focusing on our school values and being merciful. I wrote a paragraph on how Christ was merciful and how I can be more merciful. Christ shows mercy by always forgiving someone for their wrongdoings like with Judas. He also always asks people if they want to be saved. I can be more merciful by not holding a grudge on someone if they did something wrong to me. I could just let it go. God's mercy is giving people a second chance.
~Luka

What is Faith?

Faith is believing in God. It's something you have inside, and you show faith by having a determined belief. Other ways you can show faith are praying, which is something that only takes a few minutes to do.

What is mercy?

Mercy is something you show, like giving someone a second chance. Someone who shows mercy is God, he gives people second chances, ensuring that people will learn from their mistakes and become a better person.

~Betty

What does it mean to excel?

Doing your absolute best, no matter the cost. It is striving to improve and improving greatly at something.

 What is faith?

Faith is a hope and true belief in something, even without certainty and opposition; no matter what, you still hold on to it to the end, taking extreme measures with yourself if you are being opposed or questioned by it. True faith is belief, even if it means death.

 What is mercy?

Mercy is love, and forgiveness, but also with justice and consequences. God shows mercy, sometimes without much consequence. If you sin in any way, God will know, but to be forgiven, it takes repentance, and confession to God, with genuine meaning and a desire to repent in your heart, and to not pray with your mouth, but confessing with your heart.

~Fedor
