Below is some information on WHA’s upcoming Junior Programme “After School Hockey Club”.  The programme is for students in Years 1–6. I

We’re excited to welcome whānau back for After School Hockey Club in Term 4. If your child has been part of our programmes or competitions before, this is a fun and supportive way to keep them active and growing their hockey skills.

 Hubs, Days, Dates & Times

 National Hockey Stadium (Newtown) – Mondays, 13 Oct–24 Nov*

Years 1–3: 3:30–4:15 PM

Years 4–6: 4:15–5:00 PM

*No session Monday 27 Oct (Labour Weekend).

Upper Hutt – Maidstone Park – Wednesdays, 15 Oct–19 Nov

Years 1–3: 4:00–4:45 PM

Years 4–6: 4:45–5:30 PM

Porirua – Elsdon – Wednesdays, 15 Oct–19 Nov

Years 1–3: 3:30–4:15 PM

Years 4–6: 4:15–5:00 PM

Lower Hutt – Fraser Park – Thursdays, 16 Oct–20 Nov

Years 1–3: 3:30–4:15 PM

Years 4–6: 4:15–5:00 PM

Kelburn/Karori – Thursdays, 16 Oct–20 Nov

 Two Age Groups, Tailored Learning

 Years 1–3 (Beginners): We focus on the foundations—grip, ball control, moving with the ball, and building confidence—through fun, engaging activities.

 Years 4–6 (Development): These sessions build on the basics with simple game-based practices and fun drills that grow confidence, teamwork, and decision-making, while keeping the focus on core skills.

*the 4-6 age group is subject to numbers (if needed, groups will run in a combined session)

 The programme runs for six weeks over Term 4 and offers the perfect balance of learning, fun, and friendship. Whether your child is just starting out or wanting to keep developing their hockey skills, this is a great way to stay active and prepare for the Junior Competition in Term 2.
