What a fantastic end to the term to see not 1 but 6 of our tamariki baptised. Such a special occasion and thanks to those who sent in some goodies for the morning tea. We congratulate Ralph, Hugo, Margo, Rebecca, Benedict, and Jason as they took their first step in their faith journey by being baptised into the Catholic Faith.
Also congratulations to Olivier and his older brother Etienne for being baptised on Easter Sunday into the Anglican Faith. It is wonderful to see this commitment to joining the Christian family so we can be one together.
We take time to give thanks to the amazing Francesca von Lanthen for her hard work over the past 5 years for St Anthony's. A wonderful teacher, colleague and an excellent Deputy Principal, Francesca will be missed but we hope she has a fantastic time overseas and look forward to seeing her back in 2025.
Thanks to all those who have taken the time to meet with our new teacher Eibhlan MaAteer. She is looking forward to leading the learning in Te Moana next term.
As the term draws to the end, we remind you of the option for our tamariki to wear non uniform tomorrow for a gold coin donation - this money is then donated to Caritas for their work with the poor and vulnerable.
We thank the many whānau who have supported the learning this term with transport, supervision, and plates of food - we are most grateful as it allows us to take up the range of opportunities that we do.

Working Bee Saturday 27 April 2pm to 4pm
Working Bees are held at St Anthony’s once a term. What is a working bee? It’s an event which involves our school families coming together to complete projects that enhance the environment in which our children can learn, play, and grow. The tasks could include gardening, painting, cleaning, and tidying up the school grounds.
Working Bees are a great opportunity for families and children to meet in a different social setting, as well as contributing to improvements and care of the school. Each Working Bee finishes with a BBQ to thank our lovely volunteers.
Our next working bee is on Saturday 27 April from 2 pm to 4 pm with refreshments and a sausage sizzle afterwards. Please note this date in your calendars and watch out for more details in the coming weeks
What's Been Happening in He Atawhai
Discovery Time
For discovery I was painting a colourful box with Caleb. The box was turned into a piece of art. I was happy painting because it was fun. I like painting because of all the cool colours.
- Cadyn
I like building monsters and robots out of everything! My favourite thing is lego because I build anything. I built a sculpture of myself out of playdough. It was good because it was scary because it was staring at me.
- Justin
I love discovery time because it is so good. I get to have some peaceful time. I can play with other stuff and my favourite is the train set and the dress ups.
- Hugo
At discovery time I was painting with Cadyn. We were painting a box and we made the flappy bits pink and red and we made the sides blue and yellow and most of the sides weren’t painted. We wanted to paint because we felt like doing something different and creating art. When we were working on the bottom, Nikodimos joined us and he coloured one side light blue, I painted the middle black, Cadyn tried to make the same shade but it was mixed in with grey and green. I am proud of my work.
- Caleb
Zones of Regulation
In He Atawhai we have been learning how to identify our emotions using the Zones of Regulation, and what to do when we are feeling overwhelmed. To learn about the Zones of Regulation we made tool boxes and filled them with ‘tools’ - strategies we can use when we are overwhelmed- and tiny models of ourselves that we made out of clay showing us in the Green Zone as a reminder of how we feel when we are ready to learn.
Lola- We made tool boxes and decorated them. My tools are to read a book, take a deep breath and take time out. I chose these because reading a book is nice and I do like doing that. I chose take a deep breath because sometimes you just have to take it and then go back and take a time out is good because sometimes you just need a break to help you when someone is annoying you. My person shows me in the green zone which means I am ready to learn.

We have had a message from the Attendance Dues Administrator Sina Sialau-Sola apologising for the number of issues parents have experienced while they transition to new software. They have asked that we advise parents with concerns that the invoices they have recently received do not reflect their current balance and to await a statement by the 19/04/2024. Parents are however able to start making payments towards their account as long as they use their Family account code on their invoices as a reference when making payments.
