Our grateful thanks to the community for coming together to farewell Kirsten last week. Seeing and hearing what our tamariki thought about her through their skits, poems and messages was wonderful. It was good to give such a hard-working member of our community a good send-off. Ka pai Kirsten
Now we take pleasure in welcoming Debbie O’Neale as our new office manager. Thanks to everyone who has popped in already to say hello and for making Deb feel welcome. |
We sent a group off to compete at the Interzones Athletics this week and once again our tamariki performed with style and commitment. We congratulate Gila and Monica who achieved the following success:
Long jump - Year 6 Gila came second
Long jump- Year 8 Monica came first
As well both Gila and Monica will compete at Regionals in both the 100 - 200 metre sprints
We hope you love the calendar art samples we sent out on Hero. They make great Christmas presents, so we look forward to seeing your orders by this Sunday, November 24. Please see the Hero notice.
Finally, we invite you along to our Bazaar meeting, at school on Monday night, 7 - 8 pm. If you can't make it please email Silke (silke.koepl@gmail.com) to let her know you can help.

This Sunday is the Feast of Christ the King, before Advent begins and the new Church year.
For our last few City visits, we have gone to Media Lab at Capital E and learned how to design, create, and code games. We have had a lot of fun doing this and our akonga have come up with some impressive games!
The programme we used for this is called Construct 3 and is free to use at home if your tamariki are keen to use it in their own time. There is a ‘beginners guide’ that makes it easy to learn how to use it on your own.
In class, we have been working hard on persuasive writing. Here is some of our work:

Collecting Toys for St Vinnies
We are supporting the St Vinnies Christmas Appeal again this year. Please drop an unwrapped gift off for a child 0-16 years into the school office over the next few weeks. They will come and collect them and add them to their pop-up toy shop where families in need are invited to come and choose gifts for their children for Christmas presents.
Let's fill the box in the office to the top for them!
Avoid busy shopping malls and queues - shop back-to-school stationery from the safety and comfort of your home and help us raise extra funds by purchasing your stationery online from OfficeMax.
It takes just 5 minutes, and if you order in December, you could be in to win one of five prizes of $1000. Your list is ready to go, simply tick the items your child requires. Your parcel will be couriered to the address you specify, on the day you specify. https://www.myschool.co.nz/
